10 good reasons to participate in the Ride to Fight ALS

From August 23 to 25, nearly 250 cyclists and volunteers will gather at Auberge Godefroy in Trois-Rivières for the 12th edition of the Ride to Fight ALS powered by TELUS Health. Since 2008, the cycling challenge has generated more than $2.3 million in support of the ALS Society of Quebec.

Here are 10 good reasons to Ride to Fight Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS):

  1. To provide direct, personalized support to Quebec families touched by ALS

The ALS Society of Quebec is the only organization in the province that provides direct assistance to people with ALS and their families. By participating in the Ride to Fight ALS, you are helping the Society to provide psychosocial, technical and financial aid to Quebecers touched by Lou Gehrig’s disease.

  1. To one day find a cure for ALS.

There is currently no cure for ALS. Every dollar raised by the participants during the event is used to fund leading-edge research projects in Quebec and Canada.

  1. For a loved one

In addition to making a real difference in the lives of families touched by ALS, the Ride to Fight ALS is also a symbolic way to pay tribute to a loved one living with the disease. Ride for your friend, your brother, your grandmother or your spouse.

  1. To see Quebec from a different vantage point

There’s nothing quite like coasting through the Mauricie region on a bike to appreciate the beauty of its stunning landscapes! You won’t be able to resist the charms of quaint villages like Saint-Élie-de-Caxton, Saint-Tite and Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pérade.

  1. To discover Auberge Godefroy

The site of the 12th edition of the Ride to Fight ALS, Auberge Godefroy, is an elegant 4‑star hotel located midway between Montreal and Quebec City, just minutes outside of Trois-Rivières. A member of the Hôtellerie Champêtre network, Auberge Godefroy offers guests all the amenities, services, quality and special touches they’d expect to find at an exclusive resort.

  1. To challenge yourself

With courses ranging from 75 to 100 km per day, the Ride to Fight ALS is an opportunity to create lasting memories while challenging yourself at your own pace over a period of one to three days. From beginners to experts—all cyclists are welcome!

  1. To bond with your colleagues

Putting together a team of colleagues is a great way to bond, not to mention promote your company. You can also contribute in your own way through custom sponsorship options.

  1. For a safe riding experience

Explore the Mauricie region safely thanks to a team of qualified supervisors. Lead and tail vehicles accompany the Ride participants at all times to make sure the event runs smoothly. Just enjoy the view, we’ll take care of the rest!

  1. To experience unforgettable moments

In addition to supporting the ALS Society of Quebec, the Ride is an unforgettable package event that includes meals, entertainment, sponsorships by key partners, music, and much more—everything you need to create timeless memories with the ones you love.

  1. To give back to the community

There are several ways to support the Ride to Fight ALS, and becoming a volunteer is a main one. Some of the many tasks we need help with include handing out snacks and drinks to participants, directing traffic, setting up and tearing down the event site, taking photos, and meeting participants at the finish line.
