Conference – ALS and speech alterations: Testimony and possible ways of compensation

A filmed interview with a person with ALS is presented during this conference. In it, she talks about her way of communicating and the advantages she sees in communicating with an assistive communication device (iPad with Speech Assistant application). Sophie Dupont and Gabrielle Morin, speech-language pathologists, will briefly describe possible speech alterations, communication strategies and some of the compensatory means available. They will also discuss the content to be included in a communication tool as well as the accompaniment by family members in the use of a technical communication aid.
