Double the warmth: the ALS Society of Quebec is thrilled to announce its first gift-matching campaign!
Nine years ago, Mrs. Shirley Reed lost her husband, Kenneth, to ALS on Christmas eve. Mr. Reed had been battling ALS for only two years.
This heartless disease robbed his ability to talk, walk and eat, before taking him away from his family whom he loved dearly. Until that moment, it was easy to think that Kenny would always be there for us. So it was a real shock for my kids and me… And yet my Kenny wanted to go the same way he lived: by helping others.
Knowing that ALS was a fatal disease, without a treatment or cure, he established The Tenaquip Foundation to support important causes, such as the ALS Society of Quebec. During this month of December The Tenaquip Foundation will match all donations* made to ALS Society of Quebec by December 31 to help families who are currently facing the same struggles the Reed family once did.
“I know that Kenny would be impressed to see how the ALS Society’s programs and services have evolved to meet the real needs of families at all stages of the disease. But until they find a treatment and hopefully a cure, stricken families will continue to need our support.
“I was told that you like challenges. I too participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge and now, this matching gift campaign is my way of bringing warmth, support and hope to families who are living what we went through so many Christmases past.”
